Thoughts on In Rainbows

Thumbs up, hands down, Charlie Brown. Amazing album. Buy it.

It was very generous of Radiohead to allow people to choose how much they want to pay for the digital download. I was very dissapointed to see that the mp3 files had already been compressed when I unzipped, however. Not that I keep all my mp3s uncompressed, but that is somethng I prefer to do myself. I guess I can't complain too much considering I only paid 1 British Pound for it, but I am definitely thankful that I did not contribute more.

I have played the album to the point where my last.fm is quite lopsided.

balancing acts.

Most recently, the next step I wanted to take with my site was to restructure my blog around a wordpress framework. Now I'm having second thoughts:

If I'm going to go through all of that, why not give the site a facelift?

Don't get me wrong, I like the way things look here. Evolution is only natural though. Seeing as this was my first major site build, alot of sacrifice went into what you are currently staring at. I am by no means a pioneer, but I did jump on the lightbox bandwagon prior to anyone in my circle of web colleagues and certainly before there were infinite amounts of tutorials and articles regarding customization. As you can probably imagine, breaking into the DOM for someone who was quite amateur in the web world caused alot of heartache. There are still a few bugs floating here, don't think that I'm unaware.

So why am I just rambling instead of getting to it? Good question.

Most of the time when I come home from work (weekends especially), I am exhausted and the last thing I want to do is get back on the computer. A nice camping trip here and there is a great release from the interweb, but I do need to get back into the groove of being more involved.

So hopefully this isn't an empty rant and I can give my site a new look sometime in the near future. Keep it real.

Previous post still accurate.

IE 7 crashes on me all the time at work. This is the real version, not the standalone.

Everyone I've talked to lately doesn't seem to be having this issue, but it still doesn't prevent me from hating it. Mostly for the crashing, and the obvious lack of CSS compliance that we were all hoping would be fixed by now.

Enjoy.

Please don't bother attempting to comment, Media Temple disabled my post scripts because of the insane spamming that I've been plagued with recently and I'm too lazy to switch to wordpress from my hand-built blog.

IE 7 Standalone kicks ass.

Being a web designer, I have to cater to everyone. As much as I love gecko browsers, they still are in the minority of the browser share.

Many months ago, I installed a beta version of Internet Explorer 7 on my PC. Being the manly man that I am, of course I didn't read the fine print, and no longer had a rendering engine for IE 6. Reformatting was unavoidable, being a web designer and all.

As of today, alot of people have started upgrading to IE 7, but I am not ready to make the complete switch, seeing as so many users still use 6. I was fortunate enough to find a handy-dandy standalone version of IE 7. This allows me to view pages side-by-side with IE 6. It's not perfect, but it's still pretty sweet.

more Info and download.

One of these days, this place will have a new face. But not today. It's pretty hot outside here. Who wants to join me for a White Russian?
